A Study in Contrast and Emotion

This collection is rooted in my fascination with nature—not just as something beautiful, but as something deeply symbolic. Each painting captures a moment, a feeling, or a transformation, expressed through flowers that are anything but decorative. They are soft, but never passive. Delicate, but full of intention.

Rather than painting botanicals with scientific detail, I focus on their emotional presence. A curve of a petal, a burst of color, or a subtle shadow becomes a metaphor for memory, strength, or change. The flowers in this collection are quiet storytellers.

Many of the works emerge from a black background—a choice inspired by Caravaggio’s use of chiaroscuro. His darkness wasn’t just contrast; it was a way to bring human emotion into focus. I use it similarly, letting each bloom stand out with clarity and weight. The black background becomes a space of stillness and presence, allowing color and form to breathe. It turns the familiar into something contemplative.

These paintings are created in acrylics and oils, with layered textures, metallic accents, and soft transparencies. Some feel dreamlike, others more grounded—but all are meant to be felt as much as seen.

The collection is influenced by the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest, the gardens of my Italian roots, and the quiet poetry of everyday life. Each piece is an invitation to slow down, look closer, and find something personal within the petals.

Original works from this collection are available for acquisition, with select pieces released as limited edition prints from time to time. Commissions are considered on a limited basis.
