About Alessia Sersanti

Alessia Sersanti is an abstract and figurative painter who was born and raised in Rome, Italy. She learned to paint from her mother, a local artist in Rome during the 1970s. 

Sersanti is known for her unique style of botanical and abstract painting. She is making her North American art gallery debut after selling to private collectors in Europe and North America. 

Creative at heart, she is both a painter and a fashion designer. As a painter, she studied Art History in Rome, Italy and Renaissance painting techniques from a local artist in Florence, where she fell in love with the expressive potential of abstract art. As a designer, she designed a line of luxury women’s handbags for the Asian market entirely manufactured in Italy and launched her own brand in 2017.

Sersanti's work focuses on abstract sceneries and botanicals, inspired by the lush landscapes of the Pacific Northwest and her deep Italian heritage. Her abstract pieces are shaped by a distinctive perspective on reality and its profound influence on the subconscious, drawing from a personal reinterpretation of her experiences, emotions, and literary influences.

Rooted in both the natural beauty of her current surroundings and the rich artistic traditions of Italy, Sersanti’s paintings explore the metaphysical connection between everyday life and the universe's energy forces. She believes that thoughts are powerful tools capable of shaping one's destiny. Her abstract works weave this complex tapestry of thought, using color and its absence to evoke meaning and emotion.

The botanical collections convey sophistication and elements of mysticism. Inspired by the ethereal beauty of flowers and nature suspended in midair, her practice captures vivid floral expressions that create striking contrasts that create eye-catching contrasts. The depth of colors invite contemplation of nature's quiet elegance. Her work is nearly tactile, with an intricate interplay of textures and hues, sophisticated, and full of mystical elements.

Each piece features a vibrant combination of textures and hues, bringing the blossoms to life in a mesmerizing display. Canvases are created out of an accumulation of emotions, abstract memories of landscapes, and physical presence and space. 

The artist aims to allow viewers to interpret the meaning of the paintings on their own. However, the artist makes certain that the enjoyment of a visually pleasing experience is not left to chance. She intends for viewers to appreciate the beauty found in the harmonious combination of colors, shapes, and structure.

Sersanti currently works largely with acrylics and oils, integrating other mediums such as chalks and gesso. Sersanti moved to Kirkland, Washington, in 2019, where she established her art studio. Since then, she has been painting every day.

Sersanti currently resides with her family in Kirkland, WA and works as a professional artist.
