Collection: The Genesis Diptych | Original Abstract Paintings on Creation & Light

Light, Shadow, and Sacred Beginnings

The Genesis Diptych presents a cosmic meditation on beginnings. Through the tension and harmony of light and shadow, Alessia Sersanti reimagines the universe’s first breath as both brilliance and stillness—a ceremonial passage where creation itself becomes a sacred ritual.

The Genesis Diptych unfolds as a dialogue between emergence and reflection—an abstract retelling of the universe’s first breath. Inspired by the elemental force of creation and the sacred symbolism found in Anita Diamant’s The Red Tent, these two canvases embody both ignition and grounding, awe and contemplation.

In The Ceremony of First Light, luminous reds, pinks, and golds burst across the canvas, shimmering with the energy of genesis. The work evokes a divine spark, capturing the instant illumination arrives—a moment both cosmic and intimate. Its companion, Ritual of Light and Shadow, offers the counterbalance: a meditative descent into depth. Here, sienna and earthen tones cradle the brilliance, reminding us that light exists only through shadow, and contrast is not conflict but completion.

Together, the diptych is more than visual—it is ceremonial. It invites the viewer to stand at the threshold of origin, to feel the pulse of creation, and to reflect on the rituals that mark our own beginnings.
